WebI swear blender used to turn X symmetry on by default when you sculpted a new object, but at some point (I think maybe around 2.9) it seems like they changed it so symmetry has to be enabled every time. It's driving me crazy, since 90% of my sculpting stuff is symmetrical and I don't like the extra step of futzing with it every time.
