WebFWIW: It does not seem to be a "cold battery" issue - still seeing the same behavior after it warmed up to 70°F update: see other comments but it does appear that the batteries were the culprit; we saw the exact same behavior with two different batteries but we got a new one last night, charged it up overnight and the saw is working fine now.
