WebThe competition is open to any American citizen forty years of age or over who has not previously published a book-length volume of poetry. In addition to publication and promotion of the manuscript by Graywolf Press, the winner will receive a prize of $10,000. WebThe submission period is now open for the Walt Whitman Award, the most valuable first-book publication prize for poetry in the United States. In addition to $5,000, the winner will receive publication of his or her manuscript by Graywolf Press and an all-expenses-paid six-week residency at the Civitella Ranieri Center in Italy.
